IOTA HISTORY::::
Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Incorporated was founded September 19, 1963 At Morgan State College (Now University) by twelve couragous African American men. With the motto "Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One" Iota Phi Theta has grown to become the fifth largest predominantly African American Fraternity in America. In its continuos development, Iota Phi Theta is committed to improving  the quality of life in minority communities  through education and community service.

CHAPTER HISTORY::::
While attending graduate school in Albany NY, Bro. Jean Sandaire decided to establish an undergraduate chapter at the University at Albany. Joining the Mighty Northeast Region Albany Colony was created in October 1999. After a semester of activity on campus, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. was officially recognized by the university in January 2000. Through the efforts of Bro. Sandaire and the assistance of a well established National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) on campus, Iota Phi Theta was able to make steady progress. In the spring 2001 intake period Albany Colony succesful gained three new members. In the August 2001 Albany Colony was designated Delta Rho Chapter at the National Conclave. In our development there are many chapters in the Northeast and beyond that have contributed to our success. Delta Rho would like to thank all the individuals and groups who have helped Iota Phi Theta become a succes in Albany.
